Where Can I Get More Fishing Information?

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s website is a good place to start. The web address is www.wdfw\.wa\.gov/. Click on Fishing/Shellfishing and you’ll find statewide fishing prospects, latest fishing news, information on trout stocking throughout the state, fishing reports, tips and fact sheets, regulation changes and links to other fishing-related sites.

Information on sportfishing regulations, seasons, limits and licenses can be found in the sportfishing rules pamphlet, Fishing in Washington. This publication is updated annually and available at Department of Fish and Wildlife offices and license dealers throughout the state around May 1 of each year.

Many libraries also have magazines available, including outdoor magazines with lots of fishing articles and information.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has produced a CD-ROM Sport Fish of Washington, containing lots of information about this state’s freshwater and saltwater fish species. It also includes information on current fishing regulations, fishing prospects and other information of interest to Washington anglers. There’s an order form on the department’s website, http://wdfw.wa.gov/outreach/cd_rom.htm or the CD may be purchased in-person at the first-floor license counter at WDFW headquarters in Olympia. Cost is $5.40, including state sales tax, and an additional $1.25 for postage and handling if ordered by phone or online.
