Youth Fishing

Fishing events for kids

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife teams up with businesses, organizations and volunteers from all over Washington to provide fishing opportunities for children ages 5 to 14.

These events take place from April to June, and each provides a day of fishing for several hundred kids and their families. For $5 each, kids fishing these events can catch and keep a couple of fat rainbow trout, receive a Fishing Kids t-shirt, and can also keep the Zebco rod and reel they're given at the start of the event. Pre-registration is required; the number of kids per event is limited.

To find out more, and get a registration form, call the number listed for each event below.

Local fishing clubs, civic organizations and other groups also sponsor fishing derbies for kids and families through the spring and summer, many of them open to the public.
