Environmental Restoration Technical Assistance: East (ERTA East) Section

Environmental Restoration Technical Assistance (ERTA) Eastern Washington Section
The WDFW TAPPS Division staff within ERTA East provide daily technical assistance and customer service to a variety of constituents, including the general public, irrigation owners, private industry representatives, consultants and contractors, city officials, conservation districts, lead entities and those they represent, legislators, and other federal, state, and local governmental agencies and tribal nations.

ERTA East technical assistance staff specialize in surface water diversion screening consultation, Eastern Washington fish passage inventories, habitat assessments, and habitat restoration projects. ERTA East staff are available to assist project proponents in project prioritization, scoping (site evaluation), planning, funding opportunities, permitting, cost estimation, construction alternatives, and project management. In concert with Habitat Engineering Technical Assistance (HETA) staff that provides preliminary project design technical assistance, TAPPS personnel can provide turn-key technical assistance and outreach to prospective clients on a variety of salmonid habitat protection and restoration projects.

In addition, ERTA East and HETA staff may be available to meet requests for habitat project technical assistance that would require a substantial commitment of time (e.g., coordinating project permits, project development, conceptual project design, and project management), provided the project sponsor contracts with WDFW to provide necessary funding to cover the time commitment.

Major efforts within ERTA East include:
