About Vehicle Use Permit

The I-82 Wildlife Area is made up of seventeen separate parcels of property. The properties run along the Yakima River and I-82 from Union Gap to the Zillah interchange. The area headquarters is on the Sunnyside Wildlife Area at 2030 Holiday Road, five miles south of the town of Sunnyside.

The riparian habitat along the river, sloughs, and ponds offers excellent nesting, brooding, and winter cover for both waterfowl, upland birds and other wildlife. The area offers public hunting and fishing with three improved boat launches and six maintained parking areas. Along with the Yakima River, seven artificial ponds, developed during highway construction, give the fishing public a variety of opportunities to catch several different species.
