DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
CONTACTED REPORTING PARTY. INDIVIDUAL STATED AT 0530 HE OBSERVED A COUGAR ATTACKING A RACCOON NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF CHENAULT AND GRANT. HE ADVISED THAT HE ALSO OBSERVED A SECOND COUGAR NEARBY WHILE THE ONE COUGAR WAS ATTEMPTING TO KILL THE RACCOON. THE COUGAR RAN OFF TOWARDS THE WEST THROUGH A BRUSHY AREA WHEN A CAR DROVE BY. THE OTHER COUGAR FLED TOWARDS SOME OCCUPIED HOUSES. REPORTING PARTY IS CERTAIN THAT HE WAS OBSERVING COUGARS. HE STATED HE WAS USING BINOCULARS TO VIEW THE ANIMALS FROM A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 60-80 YARDS AND HE HAS SEEN COUGARS IN THE PAST WHILE WORKING IN THE WOODS. RESPONDED AND CHECKED THE AREA. INDIVIDUAL SHOWED ME THE AREA WHERE THE RACCOON ATTACK TOOK PLACE. LOTS OF FUR AND DISTURBED GROUND WERE OBSERVED. OFFICER ALSO SAW THE TRAIL THE ONE COUGAR WAS SAID TO HAVE TAKEN. TRACKS WERE OBSERVED, BUT THEY HAD NO DEFINITION. CHECKED THE AREA AND DROVE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD. GAVE ADVICE IN CASE OF FUTURE SIGHTINGS. IT APPEARS THIS WAS A SINGULAR SIGHTING.
