DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
RP CALLED TO REPORT HER SHEEP HAD BEEN KILLED BY A COUGAR. SHE DISCOVERED THE COUGAR IN THE ACT OF FEEDING UPON THE SHEEP CARCASS. THE COUGAR RAN INTO NEARBY HEAVY RIPARIAN COVER WHEN THE RP SAW IT. RP ALSO STATED THAT A LAMB WENT MISSING ON 5/6/14 AND WAS NEVER FOUND. A FISH AND WILDLIFE OFFICER RESPONDED AND CONFIRMED THE COUGAR ATTACK. THE DEPREDATION OCCURRED IN A SHEEP PADDOCK WITH WOVEN WIRE SHEEP FENCE WITH AN ENERGIZED ELECTRIC HOT WIRE ON TOP. THE COUGAR COULD NOT DRAG THE SHEEP OUT OF THE PADDOCK BUT FED ON IT THROUGH THE MESH. A COUGAR LIVE TRAP WAS SET AND THE SHEEP CARCASS USED AS BAIT. A MALE COUGAR WAS FOUND IN THE TRAP AND EUTHANIZED THE NEXT DAY.
