Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Interactive Mapping: GoHunt

Welcome to GoHunt, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (WDFW) most comprehensive mapping information site.

Here, hunters will find multi-layered maps displaying game management unit (GMU) boundaries, deer and elk management areas, pheasant-release sites, and Private Lands Hunting Opportunities, as well as roads, topographical features and county lines. In addition, harvest statistics and hunting regulations are available by specific locale and species.

GoHunt offers a wealth of information for other outdoor recreation enthusiasts, as well. This site includes maps of major public lands, including WDFW wildlife areas and water-access sites, topographic maps and aerial photos. The site’s interactive query feature allows users to retrieve stream names and information on wildlife area amenities.

What can I use GoHunt for if I’m not a hunter?

You can use it to:

  1. Find lands managed by WDFW and other Public Agencies that support outdoor recreational activities such as hiking.
  2. Find water access sites managed by WDFW, including photographs, that support boating activities and have ADA facilities.
  3. Use the background images to explore the state’s wide variety of landscapes and landforms. Background images include statewide, seamless USGS topographic maps, ortho photos (air photography), satellite imagery, and shaded relief.
  4. Use ‘locator tools’ to find sites based on their place name, their latitude and longitude, or their legal description (township, range and section).
  5. Use the latitude/longitude readout to obtain coordinates of locations to navigate to using a GPS receiver.
  6. Use the Harvest Data Queries to learn about the distribution of game animals in the state and where they are being hunted.
  7. Locate the mouth of a named stream.
  8. Find out where the WDFW regional boundaries are and get contact information for each regional office.

Developed in response to public requests for interactive recreational information, GoHunt will be enhanced over the coming months. We welcome user suggestions, which may be sent to gohunt@dfw.wa.gov.
