Luhr's boat launch will close
Aug. 18-23 during paving project
The Luhr’s Landing water-access site near Olympia will be closed Aug. 18-23 for a road-paving project on a section of D’Milluhr Drive N.E. and the driveway to the popular South Sound boat ramp.
A crew from Thurston County Public Works plans to pave the driveway and a section of the road after replacing a failed culvert at that intersection earlier this month.
The launch site, owned and operated by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), is located just west of the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge on Puget Sound.
“We’re sorry about the inconvenience to boaters, but this is the last time we’ll have to close the site for this project,” said Brian Mitchell, WDFW natural resource operations supervisor. “We’ll be making some improvements to the ramp itself this fall, but the facility will remain open while that work is done.”
Luhr’s Landing is one of more than 700 water-access sites owned and operated by WDFW.
