Dear Dr. Koenings:

I am writing to inform you about the special contributions of Dan Penttila from the LaConner WDFW to our marine science undergraduate program. Dan recently taught a full day class on fishes and nektonic communities. This class included lectures with slide show and demonstrations, a net trawl on a local beach, and a laboratory session on fishes and life history stages of local bait fish. The class was extremely well organized and provided the students a variety of experiences in fish ecology. The undergraduate students in the class rated his class at the top of their marine ecology course. They appreciated his teaching style, depth of knowledge, and especially his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with them. Dan is a gifted teacher and we really appreciated his efforts and expertise in this subject area. He made a substantial contribution to our marine biology program.

Sincerely,

G. M., Ph.D.
