Subject: Thank You

Dr. Koenings,

I would like to say thank you for the recent trap and transfer of wild turkeys from the Colville area, that were released into the Chelan County area.

I served as Vice President of the lcoal chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation here in Wenatchee when we had no turkeys. It has been nice to see a dream I had, of getting birds into our county come to fruition. I would also like to comment on the time volunteered by the game agents and biologists that assisted with this event. Without their donated time, there wouldn't be any wild turkeys in Chelan County.

I would also like to comment on the recent Coyote Derby held by the Mule Deer Foundation. I know you received pressure from the Humane Society to deny the permit this year. I feel that the Humane Society is probably the biggest enemy of the hunting population of this great country. I admire the fact that you did not cave to their pressure. Removal of predators is a key factor in establishing populations of wild turkeys. I don't see the HSUS worrying about the poor innocent Pike Minnows that are caught as part of the salmon recovery effort.

Thanks.
