Subject: Opening weekend of trout season

I want to pass along how pleased my fishing partner and I were on opening weekend. I am 60 years old and this was the best fishing opener that I can remember. We were fishing on Bay Lake in Mason County and the size of the fish we caught were awesome. The biologist at the boat launch area said fewer fish were planted but they planted some larger fish that were more expensive to raise. My friend commented that since we already spend over $140 for licenses that he would gladly give another $20 for fishing like that.

I saw several grandfathers fishing with their grandchildren and they were really excited with the size of the fish and several kids were commenting on how it was the biggest fish they ever caught. I would rather catch less nice fish than a limit of small ones, but we limited out both days and all were impressive. I don't know who made the decision to take that route but I would like to thank them for a memorable opener.
