Subject: METHOW VALLEY LAND ACQUISITION

To whom it may concern:

This past holiday weekend a friend and I had the opportunity to roam around some of the Department's recent land acquisitions in the Methow Valley. These particular parcels lie southeast of Carlton between Texas Creek and Cow Creek. Kudos to the person or persons who were able to put this deal together. Actually, I don't know how recently the property was secured only that I recently became aware of it. The properties are largely surrounded by DNR lands and now provide a more contiguous block of secured mule deer winter range. We enjoyed a day of coyote hunting and deer viewing and never saw another soul all day.

I personally believe that this type of effort by the Department ranks amongst its most significant tasks. I cringe at all the new homes and development that are spreading throughout the Methow Valley. We must continue to acquire key properties where ever possible. Please keep up the good work!
