Backyard Forest Stewardship Program The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has a program for people who own a home in the woods and those who own small forested parcels “from 10 trees to 10 acres.” The Backyard Forest Stewardship Program features a “how to” kit with information on tree planting, fish and wildlife habitat, thinning and pruning, wildfire safety, hazard trees, forest health, safe debris burning, and more. Call 1-888-STEWKIT or e-mail forest_stewardship@wadnr.gov to have a kit mailed to you. |
