Due to budget constraints, the Winter Backyard Bird Surveys have been cancelled. The WDFW Winter Backyard Bird Surveys began in 1993. In the 2002-2003 season, we completed 10 years of data collection and are now able to begin a trend analysis on these data. The data are entered into a WDFW data base and have also been forwarded to the University of Washington where we expect to collaborate on the trend and bird distribution analysis. Our goal is to publish these findings for the scientific community in the peer reviewed journals, and to provide a final report to our volunteers. We thank everyone who volunteered for these surveys, some who have been with us since its inception. The volunteer list will remain active in the data base when, in time, we may be able to resume the Winter Backyard Bird Surveys. |
