Michael A. Schroeder received a B.Sc. degree in Wildlife Ecology from Texas A&M University (1980), an M.Sc. degree in Zoology from the University of Alberta for studies of spruce grouse (1981-1985), and a Ph.D. degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University for studies of greater prairie-chickens (1986-1990). Mike has been the upland bird research biologist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife since 1992. Mike has spent the last 17 years studying the population dynamics, behavioral ecology, and conservation biology of grouse.
